NORTHPOINTE TAKES 2ND PLACE AT LANCASTER POLO’S MARY KAY WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT
September 1, 2024
Kate and Jill competed in the B Flight, taking 2nd place in a super close match! Kate also took home the MVP award. It was great fun to make new friends and participate in what turned out to be the largest polo event ever at Lancaster: 7 teams, 15 rigs, 28 players and over 70 ponies got together to make it all happen!
NORTHPOINTE HOSTS 1ST ANNUAL SUMMER BEGINNER LEAGUE

In cooperation with Ople Farms, Northpointe hosted a beginner-focused 4 week arena league. This league was designed for beginning players to take a step up from coaching chukkers, complete with referees and scorekeeping! The growth and learning we witnessed in all players throughout the 4 week series was truly inspiring.

2024 INTRO TO POLO CLINIC A SUCCESS

This weekend we had six guests join us to discover what polo is all about! They got an overview of the polo ponies’ gear, got a chance to tack one up, then learned the riding and hitting basics. The grand finale was trying their hand in a match against each other and had a blast! If you want to give polo a try, keep your eyes out for our next intro clinics.

WRAPPING UP A SUCCESSFUL 2023 SEASON

We are wrapping up a successful first season of lessons, training, asados, and POLO. It was a great pleasure to introduce so many new faces to the polo lifestyle. Afraid you may have missed out? We are still open through October for lessons! The ponies will go on vacation in November and we will reopen for the 2024 season in June.
NORTHPOINTE TAKES THIRD PLACE AT USPA EASTERN CIRCUIT WOMEN’S CHALLENGE

Northpointe traveled to Ligonier, PA the weekend of September 2nd to participate in the Eastern Circuit Women’s Challenge. It was a hard fought battle, with four tough teams. Northpointe came out in third place, with Kate Dougherty named MVP in the consolation match and Meg Leven taking Most Improved Player.
FIRST PLACE WIN AT THE ANNUAL JEN + TONIC MEMORIAL

Northpointe’s Kate Dougherty helps the COMPCO team take first place at the Jen + Tonic Memorial. This is an annual event held in East Palestine Ohio to Honor the late Jenifer Powers-Fruit and to raise money for STEM education. It’s one of the best local events of the year!
NORTHPOINTE TAKES 2ND AT SUNNY HALE LEGACY CUP

The Northpointe team competed in the Sunny Hale Legacy Cup held at Brandywine Polo Club in Lancaster, PA. The tournament was held to honor the late Sunny Hale, who paved the way for all women playing the sport. She was the first woman to win the US Open, and the first woman to reach a 5 goal handicap. Hers was an inspiring journey of success and acceptance in a male dominated sport. Because of her work the doors are now open and women's polo is the fastest growing contingent. Northpointe was honored to participate in this tournament and even more so to take home the 2nd place trophy!

NORTHPOINTE WELCOMES oUR PRO JORGE AFFRANCHINO VIVANCO FOR THE 2023 SEASON

Jorge is 3 goal professional polo player from Argentina. He has his own polo school there and specializes in making young horses from the ground up. Fun fact: he trained under legendary horse breaker, Polito Ulloa. Jorge has traveled the world playing polo: from China to England and the US, even Pakistan. To say we are lucky to have him and his family with us is an understatement! If you want to improve your game, your swing, or your horsemanship this season, this is your guy. He'll be available for lessons, coaching, and horse training all summer.
NORTHPOINTE LADIES TEAM WRAPS UP SUCCESSFUL 2021 SEASON

For the 2021 season Northpointe joined forces with Ligonier Polo Association Ladies team for 3 exhilarating tournaments, bringing home 2 tournament wins, and 2 Best Playing Pony awards for Nothpointe’s own “La Farolera.” The tournaments were held at Brandywine Polo Club in Toughkennamon, PA; Ligonier Polo Association in Ligonier, PA; and Play Polo Club in Columbus OH. The ponies are now on winter vacation and we’re already anxiously awaiting 2022!
NORTHPOINTE’S KATE DOUGHERTY PLAYS 36th ANNUAL FAMILY HOUSE POLO MATCH

Over the weekend, Kate Dougherty played in the annual Family House Polo Match held at Hartwood Acres. Family house is an organization that provides a “home away from home” for families and patients traveling to Pittsburgh for medical care. This event raised $220,000 for the cause.
Kate, the first local woman to play in the match’s 36 year history, played for the Howard Hanna green team, against #1 Cochran in red. They came up short despite Kate’s two goals scored in the final chukkers. Both MVP and Best Playing Pony went to Juan Carlos Gonzales, who proved to be unstoppable!

NORTHPOINTE JOINS MOUNTAIN VIEW POLO FOR 8-GOAL LADIES’ TOURNAMENT

Northpointe joined Mountain View Polo’s Akemi Tinder and Laura Goddard for an 8-Goal Women’s Arena Tournament last weekend. The tournament was held at Seneca Polo in Poolesville, MD. Despite a hard-fought game, the ladies lost their first on Saturday but were able to come out on top in the consolation match held on Sunday. The tournament win went to home team Seneca Polo, with Garrison Forest as the runners up.
